Sipping Fine Wine
The name "Boekenhoutskloof" pronounced, bok-un-hoatscloof comes fom the Cape beech, or Kaapse boekenhout, a tree indigenous to Franschhoek and once used by the Cape Dutch for furniture making. Deep red with fruit and spicy nose. Blackberry and blueberry flavors with sweet pepper spice with surprisingly soft tannins. Lingering with oak and spice ending. Nice value for this interesting wine.

Syrah brings the power, spice and dark fruit, Mourvedre brings red fruit and earthy notes, and Viognier (white grape) mellows the wine out and adds “aromatic complexity”.

Syrah funkiness + Cherries, spice, leather, medium bodied. Give me some mushroom & veggie pizza and a springtime bonfire.

Light color. Rusty red. Smells like rosehip tea and hibiscus. Flavors a pretty complex and intriguing. Has a bit of a citrus (blood orange) side. Fine and full finish. This is a complex and nice balanced rule of red.

Had saved this bottle from a family vacation because it was delicious, especially with my eggplant parmesan.
