Wow! Totally reduced at first this 2019 was singing after some 20 minutes. Honey and almond blossom, lemon peel, nice discrete oak and Burgundy acidity. Made my Friday better, which is a great compliment from where I am sitting. Thank you out there

First release of this particular Sandhi Chardonnay. Fruit is sourced from several Central Coast vineyards. Medium golden color. Lovely nose of bright apple, tropical fruit, and white flowers. Yellow Apple leads on the pallet with nice underlying notes of vanilla (aged in neutral oak?), a touch of honey, slate and saline. Nice and round but not too big. Medium plus body. A bit subdued. My kind of Chardonnay.

Not complex but the flavor profile here is so dialed in. Is there a better $20 Cali Chard? I’m sure there is, but I haven’t had it.

Pretty good chard. Initially the lemon notes and the acidity were overpowering, after a couple of hours of aeration and ice cold temp the wine completely turned… Lemon and acidity were still there but brighter and less intense. Also some newfound minerals and even a slight sweet oak note on the finish. I was about the dismiss the whole bottle after the first glass, so glad I was patient and gave it another shot.
