Voluminous and voluptuous warm black currant, plums, black cherry, tobacco, graphite. Lots of energy and freshness yet firm wine in a classic MV style

11/2021. Great wine. Bold and full of flavor. This 2018 vintage is the best since 2015.

This evening the wine of choice is the 2018 Mount Veeder Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The blend is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 4% Malbec. The nose gives us notes of black cherry, blackberry, black raspberry, plum sauce, spice, vegetal notes, green bell pepper, black pepper and violets. On the palate there are sumptuous notes of black cherries, blackberries, black currant, vegetal notes, black pepper, green bell pepper and a nice earthy component. The wine is medium to full bodied with medium to medium + acidity and medium+ grippy fine grain tannins which moves subtly into a long black fruit, black currant finish. A lovely wine that is not overly hard on the pocket book. What a way to start the week. The week ahead looks bright. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia!

Deep ruby in color with pleasant aromas of cassis, mint, cedar, and vanilla. The cedar notes are quite strong. Medium to full-bodied with grippy tannins. Very nice, long finish. Bone dry. Not a bad wine, but I’m not blown away either.

Nicely integrated Cabernet blend! Medium body, acidity and dusty tannins! Great brambly dark fruit, dark chocolate, cedar has mellowed from a year ago, graphite, mint, pencil lead, and vanilla.
