Waxy, honeysuckle, greatness. It's almost got a diesel/petrol smell. So great.

After having tasted two suboptimal white Hermitages last saturday, I have to admit that it can be a hit-and-miss when it comes to aging Rhône blancs.... But this one slightly restores my faith in doing so. Golden colour, spicy tropical fruit, juicy and sappy in the midpalate and a long, rich and satisfying finish. No distracting notes of oxidation. A wonderful bottle from a good but not a great vintage. Tops.

Plan was to have a romantic dinner to open this direct from our honeymoon moons ago. Instead kids and pizza in a resort room after lots of pool time. On open gasoline and on taste wax. Over the first hour it has opened up. Petrol persists.
