A weeknight dinner w friends & what a gift they brought: one of my favorite producers. What is surprising is how soft & approachable this is compared to, let’s say, a Lapierre Morgon from same vintage. Still, rather closed on nose, with a porous forest floor & red currant compote, but with muted acidity. It’s still delicious, but a few ticks away from infanticide.

what a treat — young but vibrant with tartness, body, and earthy verve.

The least Beaujolais-like of the lineup, but in a good way. I’d call it 1er cru cote de Beaune, maybe Savigny. Extremely balanced, it’s an equilibrium between intense red fruit and pretty florals, violets and lilies. The palate is so delicate, pretty tannins and delicate fruit. Zero funk
