Very dry, especially for a Spanish red, to the point where it was hard to identify flavors. Still enjoyable, but I like other Spanish better.

Dried cranberry, vanilla, wet leaves on the nose, smooth, full bodied. Not what we expected for a rioja. An exciting wine.

This is very rustic and austere Rioja. Dark purple color. Good nose with with red fruit, leather, cedar, and cassis. On the pallet the fruit is dialed way down, and the oak and earthy flavors dominate. It is full bodied, high alcohol, with medium plus acidity and a dry medium tannic finish. IMHO it lacks integration but very drinkable and will punch you in the face again and again. Very powerful wine.

Dark ruby coloration. On the nose, cherry, cocoa and vanilla. A little anise, cinnamon and cedar wood as well. On the palate, medium - full bodied, blueberry, cherry, minerality, spices, and a medium longish vanilla finish. Tannins still in good force but not overpowering. $70ish at total wine.
