WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot! These Aubert pinots are almost like bulls in a china shop, but they pull back just before it gets too overwhelming. So much complexity and depth in these. Fruit is super concentrated with candied cranberry, gooseberry, and fresh squeezed blackberries. Silky palate with earthy/birch wood notes on the finish. Wonderful, @Eric LaMasters .

This is really extracted and layered. Gorgeous flavors of black cherry, warm spices, candied fruit, peppercorn, earth, and minerals, all floating on a deep velvet canvas. Luscious fruit and great balance.

This was surprisingly good. Most aubert Pinots I’ve had are huge extracted monsters time has served this well. Showing elegant tertiary notes!

Was expecting this to be better than the UV from last night - and it might be in the long run - but for right now I think the UV beats the UV-SL. Still a terrific wine, but lacks the balance and structure of the UV. My guess is that a side-by-side in 5 years, the UV-SL will outpace the UV, but if you have both of these in your cellar, leave the UV-SL alone for a bit and enjoy the UV!

Gorgeous Pinot. Big and earthy. Dark fruit with several layers of complex, savory flavors overlaying the fruit. Beautiful.
