A few fun bottles from last Friday. I’ve had quite a few vintages of this wine and they all remain very consistent, so I won’t create a new tasting note aside from calling out the power and richness this highlighted next to a few other different Aubert’s on the table. Lauren is consistently my favorite offering from Aubert because of the profile it displays...so much concentrated fruit alongside honeyed sea salt, lemon cream and marzipan. This 2014 is still powering through and may even get better over the next couple years. Thanks @Dan Fitzgerald .

Rich, elegant and buttery. Honeydew, nectarine, peach, and a hint of lemon, vanilla, and oak. Everything I love about Aubert Chardonnays.

Another stunner from Mark Aubert. The Lauren Vineyard is typically my favorite, and this incarnation is terrific. Amazing nose of white flowers, honeysuckle, and hints of vanilla and sweet melon. A whiff of slate on the nose portends some nice minerality in what is otherwise a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel with layers of flavor evolving on the palate. Lingering, seamless finish. I suspect this is going to improve with a few more years in bottle - when you drink it it’s almost like you can sense the flavors that are waiting to emerge - but this is an absolutely fantastic wine.
