Planted by Richard Sanford in 2000 on the Rancho La Vina Spanish land grant on the eastern hilltops of this magical property. Here we find soils derived from the organic rich Monterey formation consisting of Gazos clay-loam, Ballard fine sandy-loam, and Santa Lucia shaly clay-loam. The 2018 La Encantada is ravishing and elegant highlighting the crystalline purity and impact of this vintage. Layered with savory notes that give way to an ultra red core and finishing with the sites signature minerarality and salinity. Structured and deep, this wine is built for the long term.

Red fruit, crushed rocks, good acidity. I just love this area and this vineyard. Very Burgundian and much better QPR!

Earth, concrete, pepper. Dry - not overly fruity. A bit of a heavy finish at first but opened up by second glass. Excellent all around. Buy again.
