Full, bright ruby-red! Pure and complex if subdued on the nose, offering scents of plum, briary dark berries, spice cake and dark chocolate. Densely packed, fine-grained and concentrated, conveying a lovely restrained sweetness and excellent depth of texture. No rough edges here in spite of the wine's seriously firm structure. Intense, sharply delineated mountain berry flavors convey a medicinal reserve, a distinctly savory quality and lovely juicy energy. This Cabernet is still a bit ungiving but its acid backbone and firm but harmonious tannins promise more positive evolution ahead. An excellent showing for this palate-staining wine, which will be long-lived and may yet gain in breadth. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, June 2020)

Impromptu meet up at Classic! Young. Almost truffled mushroom alongside ripe red and black fruit with saddle leather on the nose. The aromatics are powerful, but also soft. Very smooth with perfect balance on the palate. Kirsch, cassis, and underbrush/wood mixed with black cherry medley. Decant at this age (which is just so crazy/impressive to me) or this will go for 10+yrs easily.

Super juicy, even spicy cherry and plum mixed with earth and crushed herbs. Very young yet with tight and fine grained tannins.

Just becoming approachable. Very old school California winemaking, mid pallet on the light side, slight vegetative. Beautiful complex nose.

Grilled NY strip night in Oregon. Another 2001 Napa. Deep blackberry, black currant, highly structured, just now approachable. This is old Napa style, great now but will last another ten years at this level. The

So much class. Super young and dense, complex left bank nose of pencil shavings, cedar, dried strawberries, rhubarb, lead, portobello and forest floor. Lovely vegetal quality though not overt, just satisfying Cab crunchiness. On the palette the tannins are very fine. Acidity is medium+. This is a fantastic old school Napa wine with a long life ~15-20+ ahead of it for those that love mature wines. Decant if drinking now.
