This one’s dialed up to 11. I don’t like my chards at 11.

Orin Swift’s 2013 Mannequin was notable because it received 96 points from Robert Parker, which might be akin to Michelin giving a fast-casual restaurant a star. More shocking, to me, though, was that he used the term “full-throttle” three times in his review. And while agree, it is indeed full-throttle, I’ll only use it once. Tropical, but with a lemon juice and menthol edge. Mouth coating chalk leads into the antiseptically clean finish. Interesting, but not inspiring.

The bottle presentation is something to write home about - creepy nude bottomless mannequins? Certainly sets you up for a weird evening. Tropical fruit to the point of fermented pineapple pina colada. Bright lime peel in the mid-palate quench down sip. Ruminating whiskey warmth on the finish which offers some oak. I would drink again but the first sip of this wine wasn't good. Needs time to ruminate and feel out the desires of the party.

Given that dinner called for white, I thought this would be interesting to revisit. I recall enjoying it the last time but I've purposely avoided reviewing my notes to see how I felt this time around. Pale gold in the glass and quite viscous. Pineapple and other tropical fruits abound. It is rich and oily with moderate sweet intensity. Although this is technically a Chardonnay, it must have the legal minimum because this is far more a blend. Overall, a good showing and good QPR.

Big profile in the mouth. Alcohol comes through. Pineapple. Apricot. Nectar. Creme brûlée. Would make a great dessert wine.

Flabby and lacking structure. Surprisingly dissapointing given their fabulous white blend from last year.

So smooth and tasty. One of our new favorites. Tastes of fruit, mango, with a buttery acidic finish.
