Still fresh! Jalapeño jam, red currant, cedar chips, raspberry coulis. Delicious, still marching, but probably only for a year or two more.

Manure + Flowers = This wine. Depending on your palate, this is yummy or no way. IMO this needs 10+ years.

An unusually warm April night calls for grilled steak, which calls for delicious Cabernet Franc. 08 Les Picasses doesn't disappoint. Dark fruit, firm tannins, bright acid and that signature Chinon minerality matched perfectly with Butcher @ Larder dry-aged porterhouse. #winning

It has been a long week of meetings and job visits, so I am treating myself to a Loire beauty a Loire Valley Chinon. At first opening a bit pungent, but I like that with lots of good aromas. I am getting big notes of black currant, rasperry, violets and graphite. On the palate the raspberry comes through with plum and the typical vegetal notes, bell pepper. There is also earthy components, medium acidity, medium tannins with a long dying finish. Very nice and I like it.

A bottle opened 12/21 and not touched (due to my mandolin incident) and repopped the cork tonight (1/5). Firing on all cylinders fo' shizzle. #welovesalt

This is really terrific. For 10 years old this is quite fresh and the tannins still grip strongly but with a decant it opens well and is full of spice and dark blue fruit. The reputation for aging of these wines seems well deserved.
