Two killer wines from killer vintages. Remarkably similar upon opening. The '82 faded and showed much more earth after an hour. The '90 however, was gorgeous throughout the night.

Was not showing to it's potential, but stewed red fruit, compost soil, and clay. It's lack of acidity was what surprised me most

Still had a fair amount of fruit after 30 yrs. Very nice Thanksgiving wine

I feel like the 90, more than many other vintages, really showcases the unique (and spectacular) terroir. Love the slight herbal note to balance the power of the vintage. On plateau and I think it will be there for a while.

17.5. Classic, a bit austere for my taste, but no doubt about its balance and length. Perfect with first grouse of the season.
