Good but was overshadowed by everything else we had that evening.

This, along with an '85 d'Estournel, was the star in a brilliant lineup. Powerful, rich, but with an earthy elegant balance. Perfectly built

A great representation of #leftbank #bordeaux from a ripe vintage. The core was deep ruby fading out to crimson with nice concentration. The nose was powerful and very complex showing ripe black and red fruit, and secondary notes. The palate was well structured and still very tight not showing nearly as much as the nose. The finish was long but dominated by smoke. Lots of time to go. #duhartmilon #pauillac #ctbucklinwine

Lacked the concentration and excitement that I that a 2005 might have. #bordeaux #pauillac #duhartmilon #2005

So well structured that you almost forget to note the flavors. If you can cognate how precisely Lafitte’s little sister is constructed, you will be rewarded with intense saddle leather, plum liqueur, wet stones and a light herbaceous finish. Merci à la famille Rothschild.

45+ minute decant. Classic French nose that is filled with cherry, cedar, rust, and earth. Same characteristics on the palate, but does lack a little depth or boldness. Definitely drink with food. You also might want to drink sooner rather than later, although the finish was definitely long. Loved it!!

Lucky enough to get to try this at a party I was working last night. Probably still a baby, but drinking well. The tannins weren’t over-powering. Not a lot of fruit, mostly secondary aromas and flavors, and a surprising amount of funky/Bretty character. I haven’t gotten to taste a lot of high end Paulliac wines, so I don’t know if that’s a flaw or a feature. Would have liked to spend a little more time with it (and eat something with it) to generate more thoughts.

Earth and barn and Indian spice with supple tannin and a velvet chocolate cake finish.
