d'Arenberg The Dead Arm McLaren Vale Shiraz 2010

$74.99

The Dead Arm Shiraz has a vivid young deep purple colour. The nose shows intense and complex cedary, fig, blackberry and blueberry like smells with the occasional hint of pepper. There is a rolling finish with a touch of english toffee. \x0D

A subtly-nuanced blockbuster monster. Maybe a relic from past-Parkerian times? Lovely olives and violet aromas struggling between heavy layers of black, very black, fruits. Dense, "virile" texture. Although heavy and hot, extremely enjoyable. An iconic Aussie red from an excellent vintage. I would pay close attention to the service temperature, making sure to pour it fresh to accentuate the flowery side of this wine. @darenbergwine #mclarenvale #shiraz

Interesting screw top? Bright and concentrated earthy - berry notes. Very nice.

Good. Big fruit, big oak. That's about it.

Very complex - cherries, craisins, blueberries with a hint of tobacco.
