Incredible depth of ripe fruit and concentration from the Eutypa Lata-affected vines which produce fruit for this Aussie icon. The oak is beautifully integrated so as to produce a unique character with sublime texture & balance. One of the world's great expressions of Shiraz. The 2002 showed a freshness which belied its 13 years of age and indicated great potential longevity.

I don't always drink #australianwine, but when I do, I prefer at least 10 years of bottle age.

This is in a beautiful place right now, plenty of smoky, sweet red and black berry fruit but also starting to take on those developed notes of worn leather, black olive tapenade, melted liquorice and a sweet tar note. Soft and supple in the mouth but still enough acidity keeping the rich, sticky black cherry and blackberry fruit from becoming sickly. Great length with a prune and black olive flavour.

Prune on the nose. Cherry too. Cherry jam on the tongue.

Powerful nose of dried lavender, white pepper, spice, licorice, and eucalyptus. Full mouth, bright acidity, tannins have softened and are well integrated, but still very lovely. Mouth of black cherry, unripe strawberry, cedar, and some dark chocolate. Some signs of aging, but very little. Still very powerful in flavor after 14 years

Very dark cherry and spice. Not as sweet and ripe as I feared, but still rich. You know it is Oz in a good way
