If this wine could sing it would fill the air with a brooding, heavy, bass-driven melody with a tenor backing that sneaks in and takes over to finish. Heavy at first, leathery and dark forest, it gradually opens into a more bright and fruit forward drink with red cherry and rich exotic spices. Much more poetic than this description.

Tart cherries, black cherries. Gassy but blows off. Lovely perfume.

Lite färska örter och stall i doften, röda bär, lite stram och spritsig munkänsla. Grymt gott

Natural style, slightly sour, juicy but complex. Vastly better than the Occhipinti all-Frappato, which tastes like an ashtray. Highly drinkable but perhaps a little self-centered for intuitive easygoing food pairings.

Some barnyard and maybe prunes on the nose. Taste: dark stewed fruits balanced by some really bright acid and tannins. Works, somehow.

Nice, versatile wine. Light bodied, strawberry and red fruit flavors and just a bit of pepper / earth. Paired well with an array of dishes (including beets, pork, gnocchi, salad, butternut squash ravioli). I hear that 2014 was a rough year for northern Italian reds. The somme noted this wasn’t the case for southern Italian reds and this bottle offers strong proof.
