From a 30 year old hillside vineyard at Southern most part of Napa Valley. This is a truly remarkable Chardonnay. It boasts verve and acidity but it is by no means, lean or 'steeley' in nature. The acidity and precision are not at the expense of the beautifully rich fruit, which carries the wine. The nose is full of orchard fruit, citrus blossoms , and every-so-light butterscotch. The palate is mineral driven with loads of pretty mandarin orange, lemon oil, and verbena. This is about as 'old world' as you will find a Chardonnay in California.

Wine club gathering with dear friends. Two whites and two reds, all tasted blind. Awesome Chard. Complex yet slightly off-putting from the onset, but as the selection opened up the notes began to formulate and show some structure. Lemon custard, lemon grass, menthol, dill, candied pineapple, and slate.

Wow! Light yellow with a hint of green. Acid and fruit play off of each other nicely..on the nose..lemon,flowers and butterscotch, taste of Meyer lemon, Mandarin orange..hint of vanilla!

Pretty white flowers, a malo softness, almost Sauvignon like freshness on the nose. On the palate very supple and rounded. Polished with good fruit but held in check. A classy chard.

Broad ripe fruit yet still fresh. And a slight bitter / savory herb quality. I want more cut and texture though.

Style of chard that I enjoy. Good acidity, pear and apple on the palette. Not overly oaked at all. 2012 Vintage.

I agree with the Chablis like style mentioned here alas with less acidity. NOT Napa style sorry! NOT creamy. Elegant and subtle. Lime mostly.

A bit broad and unfocused at this time. Perhaps my fault for drinking it early. I generally prefer the trout gulch bottling but Watson ranch is always a crowd pleaser. Will revisit in 6mo-1yr
