Vincent Dauvissat La Forest Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2011

$135

A brothy sense of richness to Vincent Dauvissat's 2011 Chablis La Forest evokes stock of chicken, clams and mussels, something that would count as utterly anomalous in wine from any other wine region. Chalk segues into white pepper, which, along with a bitter edge of dried herbs, makes for invigorating tactile impingement, even though there is an underlying hint of creaminess to the palpably lees-enriched mid-palate. Similarly, a light lemon freshness complements the richness of this peppery, pungent chowder of Chablis. The finish here milks my salivary glands for all that they are worth. Look for this remarkable libation to perform with versatility and compelling complexity through at least 2020. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Drinking way better than the bottle I had last month. That one showed some premox whereas this one was fresh and on point. Oystershells, Citrus and stone fruit complimented by orange blossom. Excellent minerality and a finish that goes on and on. Great example

Very good. Has gained some weight over the years. Not as much verve as I expected but nuanced and delightful. It’s actually kind of a big wine

Very earthy wine. Oysters, wet mushrooms, sea spray, hints of oxidation, wet soil. Golden apple, bosc pear, lemon. A certain palate weight and texture I've not had before in Chablis

Absolutely delightful! Showing some signs of pre mox though.
