Finely wrought, this dry, compact white layers expressive accents of honeycomb, lanolin, iodine and smoke with flavors of poached pear, lemon meringue and green almond. Not your typical Gewürztraminer. Drink now through 2028. 1,100 cases made. Wine Spectator

Mid Gold and crystal clear. Trademark aromas of Lychee with a touch of nutmeg. Lychee and honey on the full bodied palate. I have seen very long drinking windows for this Cuvée but for me this is ready to drink with very little acid. It remains a delicious drink and one of the 1001 Wines.

January Wednesday Wine Committees are always a great as the red wines are required to be 11yrs old, making all of the reds 2008 vintage. 1 sparkler, 2 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine were served today, all blind. Delicious and shocked it was gewürztraminer. It was sweet/botrytis like, but not overly so. I didn’t pick up lychee or honeyed pear that I usually do with this grape. Touch of petrol. My guess was Alsace Pinot Gris in vindage tardives style. At least I got the country and region.

Had the 2008, I think that it needs a few more years. I had the 2004 a a year back and it was amazing. Love Trimbach!

2008 vintage. One of the great Gewürztraminer cuvees in Alsace I have read. Apparently should be aged ten or more years so I have gone a little early at 8 years. Mid gold in colour. Nose was Lychees with a hint of cinnamon. Lovely rich palate of lychees with a slight citric bitterness finishing dry at 14% Alc. Mouth filling and bottom line - delicious.

Très surpris de la qualité de cette bouteille, très peu d’expérience avec cépage. En bouche et au nez on se serait cru avec un sauternes, viscosité en moins, litchis, ananas et abricots confit, floral, touche piquant, gingembre.
