Tenuta Di Castellaro Nero Ossidiana Red Blend 2016

$29.99

...This is a delightful wine that shows the glossy intensity and shine of a Burgundian grape, despite its origins in one of the warmest and most extreme islands in the sun-soaked heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Fruit for this wine is grown in the Aeolian Archipelago. Polished tones of bright berry and cassis give the wine lots of energy and buoyancy. The results are elegant, floral and very easy on the nose and mouth. I think this wine is just terrific... Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Wow, a true Sicilian beauty. Corinto Nero! New fave variety; this is like a crazy mashup of the best m of three of my favorite red grapes. It has the complex red berry-fruited tension of Spanish Garnacha, the bloody minerality of Cornas Syrah, and the plain elegance of 1er cru Burgindy. Long juicy finish, generous, fantastic value.

I do love an island wine. The hint of salinity is a nice add to the light, bright fruit and flowers.

Well, wow. I made a harissa chickpea stew tonight, and it had some heat. This wine was a **phenomenal** pairing. On the nose: black raspberry, stewed tomato, citrus flowers...On the palate: good acidity, stewed tomato, plum, good density, and the softest tannin on the finish. Perfect pairing.
