Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2015

$54.95

The 2015 Le Serre Nuove shows just how alluring this vintage is. Silky, perfumed and also wonderfully light on its feet, the 2015 is a real pleasure to taste today. All of the Ornellaia signatures come through in an attractive, mid-weight wine that will drink well right out of the gate. The 2015 is a stunning Serre Nuove. That's all there is to it. Did have structure and beautiful on the nose, however missing mid palate depth and length.

Winemakers dinner with Ornellaia. Will certainly go into my 9.0+ scoring after some additional cellaring. Still somewhat closed

Preferred this much more than the super Tuscan Ornellaia.

Violet ruby center , pink rim and large tears . Lots of ripe black plum and cherry fruit. Fruit forward touch of spice . Pretty powerful on the palate , essence of black cherry, plum , touch of liquorice. There is also a touch of mineral and grafite , also , going back to this after a while In the glass. Fine big ripe tannins on finish , nice length , balanced acidity , touch of alcohol on the end . Too young at the moment , needs food really. An enjoyable wine no the less , and will have some 5 years of development ,at least ,ahead I would imagine .

Well-rounded and smooth on the palate, great texture and well balanced, with a robust fruitiness which ends with a fine finish with no sharp edges, freshened by balsamic notes.
