The 2006 Ornellaia flows from the glass in a profound expression of ripe, dark fruit. With time in the glass layers of minerals, cassis, tar, sweet herbs and French oak emerge, adding further complexity. This harmonious Ornellaia combines the richness of the vintage with superb freshness and awesome balance. Today the wine's sheer density almost manages to hide the tannins, but they are there, and the wine will ultimately benefit from a few years in the cellar. The 2006 Ornellaia is one of the highlights of this sensational Tuscan vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Still very primary. An inky nose with plum, violets, pencil lead, steely notes. On the palate quite intense with hints of mocha and a black cherry sweetness. Tanning are still quite strong and biting sappy on the finish

With my boys here in Detroit. It’s 5p somewhere... Nice tobacco notes on the nose. Black cherries on the palate with, earth and a meaty dimension. Pure silk and crushed velvet on the mid-palate. Finishes with hints of truffle - outstanding.

A classic from @Shay A showing lots of power and purple fruit, some cedar/wood notes, very polished but still a baby at age 12. It should age and evolve gracefully.

Night 1 of the Fall WNH event in San Antonio. What a killer start to the extended weekend, all courtesy to Shawn and Jennifer for hosting! Tonight was Italian wines. Dark! This is Napa-esque. Extraction city with black and red fruit...cassis and clove on the nose. Fresh squeezed blackberries and charred grilled cherry. Tannic and in need of a few years to enter a prime drinking window. This was one of my bottles with the help of @Bill Bender .

Drinking better overall than the last time. Still a little acidic and the tannins are rough but I think this one is going to improve with more time.
