Tenuta Caparzo Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

$74.95

...Dark and brooding, the Riserva shows the more masculine side of Sangiovese. Black cherry, plum, leather, spice and tobacco all sit on firm beams of acidity and tannin. There is a sense of explosive energy to the 2010 that I find quite appealing... Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. The estate covers an area of 190 hectares, 54 which are vineyards, 4 are olive groves, 87 which are wooded and 45 are to be planted with new vines. Vivid deep Ruby with a berry fruit bouquet and hints of orange zest. On the palate blackberry & cherry flavors, big and powerful, with leather, cacao and pepper spice. Starting to soften nicely, has energetic acidity and muscular tannins, lingering ending with oak finish. Tasting Sample.

I have a bottle of the same that I was thinking about opening in the next week or so. Good to see it's drinking ok.
