Stella Bella Margaret River Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2014

$12.99

The trend with sauv blanc may well be to NZ but here's a wine to sway the pack. It's thoroughly charming. Intense gooseberry, passionfruit and lemongrass flavours, a slippery softness to the texture, and enough finish to both satisfy and impress. James Halliday

Herbaceous notes dominate the nose at first. Fuller weight and texture than the Skuttlebutt. The tropical notes are there and balanced. Nice length, very respectable.

I picked up a couple of bottles of the Stella Bella (which means 'beautiful star') 2014 SSB from my local Cellarbrations for $23 a pop for some mid-week wine drinking last week and here's what I thought.. Hay colour on the eye. Lovely vegetal aromas of asparagus and capsicum with a whiff of gooseberries and citrus. Smooth, fresh palate with a lovely acidic kick. In terms of flavours, it's like a pineapple, dragon fruit and mango sorbet smoothie to me. Very tasty and of course very good for you
