A compelling, potentially legendary effort, there are 896 cases of the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Vineyard To-Kalon. An inky/purple color is accompanied by a classic Cabernet nose of tobacco smoke, creme de cassis, licorice, and lead pencil. It boasts massive body, great purity, loads of intensity as well as concentration, and a nectar-like unctuosity on the mid-palate and finish. Really delicious tonight. A nice mix of leather, black cherry, plum, baking spices, and cedar. No signs of bricking in the color. Still has a nice tannic structure. This could go decades longer.

This was absolutely delicious tonight! Lovely fruit along with some excellent secondary characteristics like tobacco and leather as well. Everything is in perfect balance. Just a beautiful wine that still shows quite youthful and has many more good years to go.

This was stink inky purple after 16 years. Also decanted for 2 hours. What a wine with a little graphite and smoke mixed with berries. Long finish and well balanced and gave the realm a run for its money. I prefer older wines so I lean towards this wine
