This wine surprised me. I expected it to taste like Etna Rosso. Instead, it was a very strong wine like an Aglianico or Nero d’Avola, despite the fact that the bottle was from 2007. This wine needed hours of decanting to lose its overpowering flavor. The wine needs to be consumed with steak, not pizza or cheese. I was worried it would be washed out, but this wine could go another 5 years. Nose is balsamic and pepper, and palette begins with intense dark fruit and ends in pepper.
