Mount Eden Vineyards Estate Bottled Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay 2012

$59.99

An utterly enticing, striking wine, the 2012 Chardonnay is captivating from the very first taste. Lemon oil, white flowers and mint are some of the signatures. The 2012 remains subtle and hushed in the glass, with striking interplay of fruit, acidity and bright saline notes. Above all else, the 2012 speaks to pure class. Once again, Mount Eden's Chardonnay stakes its claim as one of this country's oenological jewels. The 2012 appears to have a very bright future. Readers who can find it should not hesitate to pick it up. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Quite a debate about is this skunky, and if it is, how do you define it. To me, it was definitely a bit sulphuric with some burnt popcorn. Fruit is fairly subdued throughout...more grilled buttered pineapple and cashew. Out of the two, this definitely appeals to the French crowd. Thanks for the intro to this @Benjamin Keator !

Dry nicely balanced Chardonnay. Integrated oak and subtle fruit up front. Persistent finish and good acidity along the way.

Quite restrained but with plenty of power. Oak supports rather than dominates. Beautiful

Just rich enough, tight, pithy, grippy. Good for another 15 years, methinks.

Unreleased MEV Chard. Delicious. Slate, store fruit and the most incredible acidity that carries for 45+ seconds.

I tried it slightly chilled was excellent, then fully chilled it lost some of the flavors I tasted before. A great wine that I held for several years before serving.

Neon yellow in color with bright flavors and high acidity. Topical fruit and pineapple flavors with a grassy green finish.

Nice body but with good cut, pear, lemon, minerals, good depth with a tart finish.
