Mollydooker Carnival of Love McLaren Vale Shiraz 2005

$95

Deep garnet-brick colored, the 2005 Carnival of Love displays a more earthy, meaty, gamey character with plenty of coffee and damp loam aromas fused with smoked bacon, some iron ore, Chinese plums, a little floral note and even a bit of truffles character coming through. It is very rich and full-bodied, with the acid line standing out a little from the very concentrated and quite evolved fruit core. Still, it has amazing layers and a lot to give on the very long, licorice-laced finish... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Like drinking berry pie. Sweet ripe tannins. For cocktail hour or T-Rex steak.

Hot and heavy soy sauce taste. However tannin is integrated and quite balance. High level if acidity and would required decanting to reduce the sharpness feel. Not my style of wine. Actually have a whisky aftertaste and high level of alcohol

One of my all-time favorites in the 2005 vintage. Lots of fruit, but balanced and complex too. Opened for Christmas with family... A treat.
