Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Rosé 2004

$259

...A rich, voluptuous wine, the 2004 RosT hits the palate with stunning depth and resonance. The flavors are bold, rich and beautifully resonant from start to finish. Raspberry, cranberry, smoke, spice and crushed rocks build to the stunning, powerful finish. Vinous and ample, the 2004 RosT will drink well for decades. The 2004 just keeps getting better with time in bottle. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Salmon pink. Fine tiny bubbles. Fruity mousse nose. Notes of lemon creme, cranberries, tart citrus and some chalk. Stark acidity that overwhelms the fruit. Dry finish.

Laser focused and firing on all cylinders. Red plum, brioche, citrus/strawberry. Lovely lovely bubbly. Best I’ve had in a while.

Red berry Strawberry aromas with a tarry earthy touch. Sumptuous Delicious and concentrated with profound intensity. I have never had a Champagne like it. The % of Red Fruit Pinot Noir in the blend was the highest ever apparently at 27%. Disgorged 2014. Magnificent!

A whopping 28% still red wine, this is extremely vinous and red fruits (in a great way).

Much prefer this to the '03, this has power/finesse/acidity, extremely expressive & balanced, will be great with some years on it also.

Expansive, dense, biscuity. This wine has a lot of horsepower under the hood but needs some time to round into form.

The best still red wine I have tasted in Champagne are the lots made to make DP rose. This 2004 delivers the goods- top tier rosé Champagne, top tier wine. The nose is loaded with generous Christmas spice, black cherry and pie crust. In the mouth the wine is light and elegant and only demonstrates its power on the long finish. So different than the heavyweight '03 & the sinewy '02!
