Moët & Chandon Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Blend 2006

The 2006 Dom Perignon is a beautifully balanced, harmonious Dom Perignon that strikes an incredibly appealing stylistic middle ground. Rich, voluptuous and creamy, the 2006 shows off fabulous intensity in a style that brings together the ripeness of 2002 with the greater sense of verve and overall freshness that is such a signature of the 2004. Bass notes and a feeling of phenolic grip on the finish recall the 2003, as the Pinot Noir is particularly expressive today... Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Dom proves adage, Champagne goes with everything. Lush mousse, lemon, with minerality that complemented the grilled scallops, acidity that complimented the grouper meunière, and a toasted almond quality that complemented the apple pie. An occasion to remember.

Still needs some time to integrate, showing big flavors and texture that are a little separate in layers right now.

Let's start Thanksgiving off right. First crack at the '06 vintage and it does not disappoint. The floral and almost airy nose is quite striking with notes of lemon curd and toasted almonds. Despite its light straw color, this is a rather full-flavored sparkling with creme de cassis, peaches and more toasted almonds. The smoothest and silkiest of finishes with slight hints of smoke, adding to its complexity.
