This “two-star” Auslese features liqueur-like root and herbal essences (notably sage and sassafras) as well as lime and orange citricity, all characteristic of its site. High-toned, unctuous, and Chartreuse-like, its inner-mouth floral perfume adds to the allure of a subtly creamy yet persistently juicy, sweet but not confectionary palate. Piquant hints of hickory nut and a lick of salt add mouthwatering counterpoint, while fresh lime and herbs supply unexpected, sorbet-like, soothing coolness and outright refreshment to the lusciously lingering, utterly disarming finish. Here’s an impeccably balanced Auslese of which I could imagine savoring the entire bottle! David Schildknecht, Vinous Media
