Marcassin Three Sisters Vineyard Chardonnay 2010

$159

The 2010 Chardonnay Three Sisters reveals plenty of candle wax, white currants, peaches, citrus oil and honeysuckle as well as the wet stony minerality that can be found both in the aromatics and flavor profile. It is full-bodied and likely to evolve for 8-10 years or longer. Robert Parker

Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee lunch...always such a treat to attend. This week, Dan hosted. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert wine. All blind as usual. Gosh...I think these Marcassin chards (and pinots) are probably desert island wines. I went back and forth between CdP white or a Chardonnay...I ultimately ended on Chardonnay and said if this is west coast, it could only be Marcassin. Quite a bit of sulfur here to go alongside a rich, butterscotch nose and a full-bodied palate showing smoked hazelnut notes.

Opulent and layered with assertive French oak. The oak tannin and strong acidity balance the richness of the wine nicely.

Stunning opener for lunch! Crabcakes and Scallops... Wonderful Califonia Chard , not clocking at 14.1% alcohol at all... Had previously had 2009 and the alcohol overwhelm the experience ...super power for lunch, very lucky

Nose of apricot and melon, body of minerals with good fruit, especially for a 10 year old Chard

Maybe the bottle wasn’t showing it’s best but found this wine a little flat and a bit tired, shame as I was excited to pull the cork.
