Marcassin Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007

$429

...may be the finest Pinot Noir Wetlaufer and Turley have ever produced. A wine of extraordinary sublimity, intensity, authority and palate presence, it offers wonderfully ripe (but not overripe) blue and red fruits intermixed with notions of forest floor, spring flowers, camphor, plum sauce and a smoky character that I identify with Peking duck. The wine possesses staggering intensity and richness but it is neither heavy nor overbearing. This is an exquisite Pinot Noir the likes of which Marcassin has never before made. It should continue to evolve for two decades. Drink now-2031. Robert Parker

So nice. Alcohol a bit high right now. This one needs a little more time to settle in. Pedigree is there and Burgundian undertones there alongside some clear new world notes.

Following an ‘04 Ponsot this stood out as a sore thumb. I had double-decanted this for 8 hours and it still wasn’t enough. Insanely concentrated and almost Rhone-like. I’ll try to stash away a few bottles for the long haul (read: 20+ years) but honestly don’t think I’ll ever live to see this at peak.

07' Marcassin. I'm reading some of these reviews? This wine was just released 4 years ago. I know Helen waits to release her wines. You have to decant this wine! Would you decant a young great Burgundy wine? The rough edges dissipate immensely...becomes this giant luscious fruit bomb. Just my opinion. Dripping with deep red cherry, ripened plum, intensely floral notes upon decanting. 30 + finish.
