Deep, vivid magenta. Primary dark berry and floral scents show very good clarity and reveal hints of cracked pepper and licorice. Velvety and seamless in the mouth, offering juicy black raspberry, cherry and violet pastille flavors that pick up a spicy nuance with air. A bitter chocolate note comes up on the clinging finish, which is framed by fine-grained, even tannins... Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media

Dark juicy plums is the first impression out of the gate. There’s a cassis thing going on here...just don’t know where to place it. Finishes off with some lovely and chewy light-weight tannins. Wait around long enough and smoked bacon is definitely part of the mix. Not a hint of heat at 14.5% ABV. Its unabashed youthfulness is a finger in the eye to its more serious—but expensive—Hermitage sister. Buy a case and drink over the next five years. It won’t get much better but who cares? It’s already there.
