Krug Grande Cuvée Brut Champagne Blend NV

One whiff and you know this is serious stuff. The aromas of baking brioche, coconut, candied citrus and leather pick up roasted coffee and grilled nuts on the palate, permeating the senses. Profound depth and complexity, offering a unique Champagne experience. Wine Spectator

Very appropriate for an epic LSU win over Alabama. Such awesome acidity and structure. I’m ready for the next bottle!

Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds. This is the 2011 vintage base. Not surprised due to how young it is, but there was very little notes of their typical slightly oxidative style. Yeasty, but more honeyed. Hint of toffee, caramelized green apple and nice layers.

Sweet at the edges, honeyed with tangy lemon and some slatey minerality. Hints of green apple . Some brioche and ush fruit.
