J. Lassalle Preference Brut Premier Cru Champagne Blend NV

$35.95

Focused on pinot meunier (60 percent), the balance equal parts chardonnay and pinot noir, this is aged four years on the lees; this current release includes the 2010 and ’09 vintages. It has the freshness and clarity of fragrance that runs through all the Lassalle wines, with a brisk mineral direction to its flavors, finishing firm and clean. Wine & Spirits Magazine

Pale lemon with fine creamy mousse and tiny rapid bubble flow, aromas stone fruits and blossom, bread dough and citrus. On the palate flavors of crisp apple, peach, lemon citrus and honeysuckle with biscuit toast and nutty notes. Long finish, full-body ending with biscuit, mineral and floral citrus character. Nice!

Monthly WTF wine group meet up. Theme was “bring something good”. All wines (minus the bubbles and SB) were tasted blind. Very refreshing and bright bubbles. Clean citrus notes, chalk, limestone, and just slightly yeasty toward the finish. Reminds me of the Marc Hebrart Brut. Thanks for this, @Jeff Meyer .

Very good, super drinkable yet good complexity. Citrus almost toward tangerine, definitely almonds, brioche, but great acidity. I also get the slightest hint of raspberries or pomegranate. Interesting.
