Gramercy Cellars Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$49.95

I compared the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (86% Cabernet, 10% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot) to a top Margaux last year when I tasted if from barrel, and I stand by that comparison today. Sandalwood, kirsch, black currants and floral notes all emerge from this beautiful, silky, impeccably polished and balanced Cabernet that has no hard edges, medium to full-bodied richness and a seamless profile that makes it impossible to resist. It's going to keep for 15+ years. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Very smooth and seamless. Black cherry, red currant, leather, pepper and just slightly too much sweet oak for my taste. Haven’t had the Reserve cab but I would be concerned about the level of new wood based on this. The Syrahs are the real show with this producer anyway so can’t wait til those are ready

Ripe, just shy of opulent, showing the sunny vintage. Blackberry and licorice. Very nice while waiting for the reserve cab and single vineyard syrahs

Fantastic Cabernet. This producer is probably better known for Syrah, but their Cabs always hit the spot for me. A touch of herbal character accenting the black currant & dark plum notes. Some tannic grip emerges as this opens up.

Another TJ rec from book club. I liked this a lot, worth seeking out.

GW tasting 10/25/16. Almost 100% Cab. Rich and elegant nose of cab and palate is rich and fruit forward and elegant and balanced. Long finish that had fruits.
