Like smelling a bouquet of flowers and then a bowl of raspberries. Full-bodied, with perfectly integrated tannins and a very fine, silky texture. Long and caressing. A must-have, great wine. Best after 2009. 5,800 cases made. Wine Spectator

My boy @Rick K landed in Detroit. Drew and I came to open up a can of whoop ass on his own pool table! We also opened up on his cellar. This Gaja is singing right now. Nose displays blue fruits with saddle leather and fresh cigars. Mid-palate is so delicate and poised - almost weightless. Palate is soft and linear with roasted chestnuts, and maraschino cherries. Finishes with sage notes and brown sugar. Just for the record, there’s no shame in my pool game!

Really pleased to see the structure and youth this wine is retaining out of half bottle. Should have a longer life than most even in a smaller format.
