Futo Oakville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2010

$299

The flagship 2010 Futo is rich, deep and implosive. Layers of dark red fruit, mocha, licorice, spices and leather all flesh out in a dark, brooding wine loaded with class and personality. Graphite, cloves and violets appear later, adding complexity, but the 2010 is mostly a wine of structure and pure power. The finish alone is eternal. What a stunning wine the 2010 has turned out to be... Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

First experience with this wine. It's a great wine no doubt. But the price turns me off. Bold balanced and gripping, throw a steak at this barking dog!

1.5 hour decant (decent cloudy/fine sediment). A dazzling dark ruby red color. On the nose: perfumed notes of black cherry, smokey oak, forest floor, touch of blueberry, floral. Taste: soft, slightly creamy silky wine with blackberry, cedar, currants, vanilla oak, and minerally tar finish. Drinking better than 2 years ago, open and ready for business now. YUM!

2 hour decant (some cloudy sediment). A lavishly dark ruby red color. On the nose: cherries, floral, smokey oak, slight menthol on the end. Taste: blackberry, minerally, cedar, little tar...ending with a long spicy mocha finish. A rich and deep wine...tannins just starting to come around but they really let you know they are still there and demanding another 2-5 years in the cellar....my remaining bottles will be pushed to the back and they will expect a better rating with more age!

I was worried this might be to young. Lots of red and blue fruit, cassis and mocha. The tannins are still very noticeable. This wine will age effortlessly for at least 20 years.
