Ferraton Père & Fils Le Méal Ermitage Syrah 2011

$115

One of the finest wines I have yet tasted from Ferraton is the 2011 Ermitage Le Meal, a great site on Hermitage Hill, and the vineyard that is largely responsible for Paul Jaboulet's Hermitage La Chapelle. Ferraton's 2011 Le Meal exhibits a black/purple color in addition to copious aromas of sweet blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with incense, vanillin, espresso, truffles and pen ink. Thick, full-bodied and rich with decent acidity as well as velvety tannins... Robert Parker

Excellent example what comes from this region. Bacon fat, cream and faint barnyard on the nose. Opulent and multilayered with plenty of ripe fruit, smoke and toast. Supple yet sweet tannins that give this racy and refined edge. Fanatic finish that sails on.
