Fattoria La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

$62.95

La Gerla's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is absolutely delicious. Dark red cherries, plums, mint, smoke, tobacco and licorice flesh out in a wine that offers notable depth, structure and power. The 2010 is medium in body and also quite polished, yet there is a level of inner sweetness and perfume that makes the wine incredibly appealing, even today... The precise, delicate finish is a thing of beauty. Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Drank 6/23/21. Excellent with Rigatoni Bolognese. Cherry, earth, tar, leather, and a bit of shoe polish on the nose. Medium bodied, this has juicy red cherry flavors, with notes of earth and worn leather. Wonderfully balanced, this feels very light. Sour cherry and earth in the finish last for roughly a minute. This is nice now and should last another 10 years plus. 3/22/9/5/4+ 50 =93 pts.

Gosh this is delicious. I have a random selection of 2010 Brunellos and having this wine reminds me of why that’s a very good thing. The only snag is that it’s just at the start of its drinking window. If only I had the patience to wait another decade. It’s medium bodied in structure, with plums and smoke and considerable structure considering its lack of heaviness. Delicious.

Had dinner with friends last night and Jeff brought this 2010 Brunello di Montalcino. A good vintage that showed well young. Dark currants, dark cherries, some plum, cherries, black raspberries, dark chocolate, rounded and not completely dry loamy soil, soft pleasant minerals with decayed red florals. Round acidity with a nicely polished finish. Could use some more time in bottle to further develop but still drank well last night.

needed 3 hours to start expressing itself ~ wonderful aromas and classic flavors of strawberry & raspberry, underbrush & Mediterranean herbs ~ def needs a few years but will reward the owner with a magical ‘moderate’ experience

Black plum and cherry sours, white pepper, thyme and tobacco, rounded out with mocha-mint and licorice. Ripe tannins and lingering finish. Thanks @Chris Wallendorf for the gift! Lovely wine!!

Tight, clean fruit. Light spiciness & anise. Slightly hot, could use some age.

Way, way too young, but I wanted to see what all the vintage fuss was about. Turns out these '10s are pretty darn good. The balance between the solid fruit, excellent structure and earth and dust is just prefect. Check back in 10 more years. Or 20.
