Domaine Henri Gouges Les Pruliers Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

$115

Highly aromatic nose of black raspberry, flowers and peppery spices. Sweet and intense, with brooding but sharply delineated black fruit flavors accented by violet. This seems more perfumed and a bit less sauvage than usual (showing less of the typical sloe berry quality of the cru, notes Gouges). Finishes with fine but gripping tannins that arrive late, and terrific aromatic persistence. Stephen Tanzer

From 375mL. Still showing very primary but quite drinkable in this format. Beautiful core of cherry fruit and not finding the wall of tannins that I sometimes do with younger Gouges. More pleasurable than a ‘98 Les Pruliers I had in half bottle a year ago.

Nice ruby color and very balanced wine with taste of cherries, raspberries and a little earthiness. Soft tannins and long finish. A winner!!
