Domaine Georges Roumier Clos de la Bussière Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

$299

A very fresh and unusually bright but more deeply pitched red fruit nose inflected with iron suffused earth, hints of underbrush and subtle sauvage notes leads to rich, full and admirably intense flavors that are at once powerful yet supple, all wrapped in a punchy and more complex and minerally finish than what I usually find here. Good stuff with excellent acid/fruit/tannin balance and recommended. Allen Meadows - Burghound

Decanted for an hour. Pure elegance. The Caitlin Jenner of wines. Power and finesse rolled into one package.

2005 vintage. Opened but not decanted. At Millesimes in Chambolle. Medium ruby hue. Very complex nose. Strawberry, black berries and furniture polish. Dark wood, savoury spices and with air, touch of aniseed and mint. Floral. On the palate, medium acidity, medium tannins - plush and round. Great length. Not the complexity or depth of Roumier's best wines, but still bloody good! Drink now until 2030.
