Domaine François Raveneau Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2012

$199

The 2012 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre, which comes from several plots ranging from 10 to 60 years old, has a very harmonious nose, perhaps showing a little more wood than it will in a few years' time, but very focused and poised. The palate is very refined, a little more Burgundian in style at the moment, almost like a Batard-Montrachet in style. This has panache to spare and the length is awe-inspiring. Drink 2015-2030. Super poised and pretty. Lanolin, honeyed notes, white flowers, chalk. Great midpalate with a hint of sweetness, mint, slate. Gorgeously lush for Raveneau.

A beautiful nose. Oyster shells yellow fruit. This is intense and still quite tightly wound. Very good stuff. In a few years this will be amazing

Quintessential Rav. Dry yellow extract, MDT power, bracing acidity, open for biz after 3 hour decent.

5 hour decant, sushi BYO. Was bought in Champagne in the fall of 2019. Love the crystalline minerality and nerve of the vintage. Rounded with great concentration and purity. Lots of upside to age.

Subtle with lemon oil and oyster shells. Really pure mid palate. Delicious.

Limpid lime green with straw color. A cool precise nose, saltiness, flint, lemon, floral notes. Very lucid and quite intense but light and defined. Very good

This has less air. Very tense and dense. Almost syrupy in its tight, tart fruit. Really delicious and packed. Alongside the 10, a significantly tighter and younger wine but that may be the lack of air. Lemon, lime, sizzling acidity and great tension. Amazing stuff with a long life ahead.

Raveneau study! Nose was floral and saline, with intense lemon and pear notes, touched gently by wood. Crystalline, focused, and more concentrated than the 13' Foret on the palate, Raveneau's MdT is always so solid in their line-up. Long and mineral finish. Still hiding some depth as it got better with air, so will definitely benefit with more cellaring.
