The magical 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee brings to mind a richer, more alcoholic version of their 1990. The 2003's dense plum/purple color is followed by flamboyant aromas and flavors of roasted meats, spicy herbs, pepper, blackberries, and cedar-tinged kirsch-like fruit. Unctuously-textured, with low acidity, high glycerin as well as alcohol (16+% ), and a monster finish, it displays enormous concentration, silky tannin, and no hard edges. This remarkable, traditionally-styled Chateauneuf du Pape will be drinkable young, yet should age effortlessly for two decades or more. Robert Parker

Ripe and confected style. Still quite youthful and could go another 10-20.

The 2003 is stunning. Rich, opulent and extravagantly rich, yet also floral and fresh. In great shape tonite. Loved it. First bottle was corked. Good to have a backup :)

Depth, power and restraint somehow. Great match to braised short rib and polenta cake

The Feraud family are widely regarded as one of the leading producers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and their property extends over 11 vineyards. Had this blend of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5%, mostly Mourvèdre & Counoise, at a private tasting. Aged for 18 months, wine was still tasting great. Deep red with brown edges and dark fruit aromas with complex earthy spices. Blackberry and cherry, rich full-body with soft tannins, gentle sweetness with some pepper spice ending with an earthy tone. Tasting Sample.
