Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) Fine Bourgogne Pinot Noir 1979

Unlike Marc (known in Italy as Grappa, Marc is made from distilled pomace), Fine is made from distilled wine. Since the Domaine de la Romanee-Conti had hail damage in 1979 they distilled a large percentage of their production to fashion this superb elixir. It has the aromatic complexity of a great wine, with caramelized cherry and sous-bois characteristics. A sensuous after-dinner drink, it is exceedingly expensive yet worth every penny. eRobertParker.com Hedonist's Gazette

Out of this world good. A bit hot but mellowed out with a splash of water. Should last another 50 years.
