Domaine de la Janasse Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

And a candidate for the wine of the vintage, the 2011 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes is always a rough blend of 85% Grenache and the balance Syrah, Mourvedre, Clairette and other permitted varieties... Exhibiting gorgeous black fruits, spice-box, toast, licorice and roasted meat-like qualities on the nose, it is full-bodied, concentrated and layered on the palate, with loads of texture, yet delivers no weight, heat, or ever puts a foot wrong. Shockingly good in the vintage, it should not be missed. Hats off to Christophe and Isabelle. Drink now-2027. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

This was really good. Drank with someone I haven't typically seen eye-to-eye with and had this feline in my face the whole time. I've been told taste can change with a situation and this tasted better as the night went on- success all around!

Deep garnet, sweet fruit, pretty integrated tannins but a little more bottle age will improve it. The finish goes on and on and on. Love it.

Embodies everything I love in S. Rhône wines. Deep, velvety, joyful, complex, immediate and captivating. Lovely in so many ways but the balance grabs my attention the most. Everything in its place.

Very serviceable with and for family dinner. Not as deep and complex as other years. I liked it and would wait a couple more years for it to develop more secondary flavors...always a very good producer that makes the most of each year.

First bottle of the case we opened for Seb 40th. Lots of fruit and dark notes. Good start, next one maybe 3 yrs to double check
