Domaine Antonin Guyon Clos des Chênes Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2016

I always like the Guyon family’s Clos des Chênes and the 2016 is another fine example in the making. The wine is quite a bit more red fruity in personality than in many vintages, offering up a fine aromatic constellation of red plums, cherries, gamebird, a complex base of soil, mustard seed, woodsmoke and a bit of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and tangy, with a sappy core, excellent transparency, fine-grained tannins and lovely grip on the long and complex finish...
