Château Smith Haut Lafitte Graves Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

$149

A stunningly, rich, concentrated effort, the 2005 may be one of the finest whites Smith Haut-Lafitte has ever produced. It exhibits notes of honeyed oranges, honeysuckle, spring flowers, lemon grass, and melons. Gorgeous acidity, excellent concentration, and a beautiful texture result in an impressive, full-bodied wine to consume over the next two decades. Robert Parker

This was singing tonight, floral and complex on nose and palate. Should go 20 years yet.

Black fruits, almost plum, on the nose. Aromas of a perfumed shoulder, a pretty barnyard girl who works hard but always manages to smell beguiling. Thinner on the palate than I hoped, but a delight.

Accidently opened but a nice surprise. Still very young. Stewed fruits, leather and tobacco.

Had this wine a lot and its always good but not great. Starting to enter a good drinking phase. Cigar box and liquorice were coming through nicely. Served with coffee glazed short ribs and pomme puree.

I very rarely say this for an expensive wine but this Graves is worth every penny @ £117+ as it will just kept getting better & better but is already divine

Nice but needs a bit more time. Oak pretty unintegrated. This wine highlights the difference between proper temperature and not - this was an order of magnitude better at 60 than 70 degrees.
